Social Media 2, Nestle 0

In recent blog post on the fisheye intern blog I used the recent Nestle fiasco and The Story of Bottle Water campaign to illustrate how some companies still don't get it. There is an excerpt below and you can read the whole thing here.

Instead of countering, why not just admit the flaws and talk about solutions.
Acting like there is no problems with palm oil, bottled water or any other issue is ridiculous. People are not that stupid. If we admit there is a problem we can find a solution and everybody wins.

This is an extraordinary flaw in the way of thinking and ruins the start-up culture. We have people that just try to build the next popular web company with investors money and then get sold to Google or go public with a ‘symbolic’ IPO.

Jamie Oliver on eating well

Over at the Increase Your Odds blog I found the TEDTalk by Jamie Oliver. He talks about food and eating well in our schools. It is a topic I have never considered before but after just watching his talk I can feel is passion.

Take the lines out of our colouring books.

As children we were never taught that what we want can't be done. Back then a risk was called learning. It used to be trust and innocence before it became being gullible. Rules were what we wanted them to be and possibility was limited only by our imagination. We only had to believe something was real for it to be so. We were taught that people are friends before they can be a foe. What we did was a reflection of who we are. ...then they put lines in the colouring books. Who are we really? The us without restrictions or the us of today?

True wisdom is timeless and can help you regardless of the circumstance. You can learn, and should learn, about multiple topics – but true wisdom is still more important.
